With almost 17 years of experience building new open technologies to help make the construction and adoption of OER easier and more appealing to teaching faculty, the LibreNet Consortium seeks to enable the next generation of educators who wish to build on the endless possibilities of OER and open education. The LibreNet is also a key component to the LibreTexts project long-term sustainability plan that provides members added benefits and access to the greater LibreVerse suite of open technologies, including:
- Hosting for unlimited number of texts
- Branded campus commons portal
- Priority access to the LibreTexts support team
- Two hour jumpstart training for your faculty
- And more!
The LibreTexts project has always been dedicated to creating a community of educators who believe in the power of OER. We hope you’ll join us to ensure the future of education is open!
The LibreNet is a consortium of educators dedicated to increasing awareness and use of open educational resources (OER) in institutions across the globe. LibreNet membership entitles all faculty, librarians, instructional designers, and more to access added benefits of the LibreTexts suite of open technologies.
LibreNet membership is open to all institutions from the K-12 space and higher education.
There are two levels of LibreNet membership: affiliate and full. Full membership is set up at the institution or systemwide level. Affiliate membership is available for campuses where the larger institution, or system, has joined at the full membership level. Note affiliate campuses may join at the full membership level if they wish to take advantage of all LibreNet membership benefits.
LibreNet membership is very competitively priced. Full membership is $1500/year, per system. Affiliate membership is $750/year, per campus; please note affiliate membership is only available in conjunction with full membership at the campus/ system level.
The LibreNet is designed for institutional membership. Individual LibreTexts users will always be able to utilize LibreTexts.org to create, or adapt, and host open educational resources (OER) free of charge.
A full list of LibreNet benefits can be found on these slides.
LibreNet membership does not include discounted access to the ADAPT homework platform. Members can access ADAPT for $15 per student, per term, capped at $30 per student, per year for up to 5,000 students. Note the cost is calculated per student regardless of the number of courses they are taking. Bulk discounts are available for over 5,000 students. Email info@libretexts.org for more information.
Open educational resources (OER) are free to use, access, and, in many cases, edit/adapt. The LibreTexts project will always offer free instructor accounts to any educator who wishes to utilize our state-of-the-art creation, remixing, and hosting platform free of charge. As a 501(c)(3), LibreTexts has been grant funded since our inception as the ChemWiki in 2008. The LibreNet consortium was conceived as a way to bring open education advocates together to promote the awareness and use of OER while also serving as a sustainability mechanism for the LibreTexts project. As such, we promise to always keep any costs associated with the LibreTexts brand at a minimum.
